Grak and Tom Present: Radio – vainangel Special

Published by vainangel under Playlists

Monday Nights: Midnight – 1am

ep – vainangel Presents: The 70′s

[Special Themed Episode of Grak and Tom Presents: Radio]

Having been across space and time, I have come to love the music era known as the 70′s. For a few hundred years when you say something like “The 70′s”, all know you are speaking of the 20th Century. Something about the birth of so many technologies and ways of thought in the 20th Century has burned it onto the minds of generations.

Since I have convinced Grak and Tom to leave me to do a special episode of my own, I found myself free to explore. As I was exploring and revisiting the music of the self proclaimed era of electronic birth, I also ran across some disturbing concepts humans held about the future.

Things rarely change for you primates. Music is the only thing that evolves as fast as it does. Even technology has become a snail crawl compared to the leaps made since the decade of home built personal computers and hardwired electronic game systems.

The absence of ‘TUBES’ and the development of the microprocessor and solid state storage devices has done little to expand your musical ability since the 70′s. Sure you can compress and ‘emulate’ the so called ‘classic’ sounds, but what happened to moving away from tradition? Disco music gets a bad reputation because it was seen as to artificial. Now most music is designed in the same ways, even if it uses the outdated drum kits and the magnetically charged string devices. It is all come full circle.

It is time to break out. Shatter the perceptions of the “Music Theory” and arcane ideas of using the square beats and corded “improv”.

All the music here compares ot the music of 2008 c.e. Composition, content and even the devices used have changed little since. Is it not time to use these computers and digital devices in more creative ways? To simply ‘capture’ or ‘enhance’ the primitive devices of the 1960′s and before is not going to cut it any longer.

You wish to blame the internet for the decline in music sales?

I say blame the music itself.
