We are still waiting for the audio-gateway computer to be set up at the tower, essentially the only obstacle preventing us from being on-the-air. Trying to put a positive spin on things, the extra time is allowing us to address a few more items in our large To-Do list.
Our website has been transitioned to Dreamhost, our official hosting provider. It’s nothing that will seem obvious to any visitors but it makes it easier to work on it now that we are aware of the features available to us. We plan on adding local program information along with reference and tutorials to help those working on their shows. We are also hoping to record screencasts for video tutorials on using software such as Audacity. Unfortunately we don’t have the bandwidth to make the screencast tutorials available on the site but we plan on burning them on CDs that can be obtained or copied at the CMC.
We plan on being a Pacifica Programming affiliate and will broadcast several shows from their lineup including Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. The CMC and Counterpoise will also host a one-hour program several times a week.
Speaking of station shows, we now provide an online program proposal form. At this time there are still several slots available so if you have a great idea for a program and are interested in producing it, please complete and submit the form as soon as possible. We are looking to fill at least 3 more talk slots and several more music slots. Our programming schedule continues to be updated so look for the current available slots and join us at a scheduled programming meeting to get you started.
If these are exciting news to you and you are looking for other ways to help, please consider donating to WGOT. Your contribution is tax-deductible and will help us go a long way.
Stay tuned and have a safe break.
